About These Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms"), effective August 20, 2026, govern your access to and use of Paperless.pet, including its website, application, and related services ("Paperless.pet," the "Service," "we," "us," or "our"). Paperless.pet is an independently operated service based in California. It is operated by an individual and is not currently a separately incorporated company or limited liability company. When you create or access an account after being presented with notice that continuing constitutes agreement to these Terms, you agree to be bound by them. You also acknowledge that you have been provided access to our Privacy Policy, which explains how Paperless.pet collects, uses, stores, and discloses information. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not create or continue using a Paperless.pet account.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding contract to create or use a Paperless.pet account. By creating or using an account, you represent that you meet these requirements. You may use Paperless.pet only in compliance with applicable law.
Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your account credentials. You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless that activity resulted from circumstances outside your reasonable control. You must provide accurate account information and maintain a current email address so that Paperless.pet can send account, security, legal, and service-related communications. If you believe your account has been accessed without authorization, you should notify us promptly. You may not use another person's account without authorization, share authentication credentials in a manner that compromises account security, impersonate another person, create an account using information you are not authorized to use, or attempt to gain access to another account or household without authorization.
Not Medical or Veterinary Advice
Paperless.pet organizes veterinary records and pet-care information provided by users. Paperless.pet does not provide veterinary advice, diagnosis, treatment recommendations, or emergency veterinary services. It is not a substitute for professional veterinary care. Information displayed through Paperless.pet may have been entered by a user, extracted from an uploaded document using artificial intelligence, imported from another source, or generated from information previously entered into the Service. AI-extracted information may contain errors. You are responsible for reviewing extracted information and correcting inaccuracies. Before relying on a date, medication, vaccination record, diagnosis, measurement, or other medical detail for a decision affecting an animal's health, verify the information against the original veterinary record or with the appropriate veterinarian. If an animal requires urgent or emergency care, contact a veterinarian or emergency veterinary provider rather than relying on Paperless.pet.
Reminders, Appointments, and Calendar Features
Paperless.pet may provide reminders, appointment information, calendar feeds, emails, or other notifications as convenience features. Delivery of a reminder or notification is not guaranteed. Notifications may be delayed, blocked, misconfigured, delivered to an outdated address or device, affected by a third-party service, or unavailable because of a technical problem. You are responsible for independently keeping track of important medications, vaccinations, veterinary appointments, treatments, preventative care, and other time-sensitive pet-care obligations. Paperless.pet should not be used as your sole method of determining when veterinary care, medication, treatment, or another important action is due.
Your Content
"User Content" means information or materials you submit to Paperless.pet, including pet profiles, photographs, veterinary records, documents, medical information, household information, and other content. As between you and Paperless.pet, you retain any ownership or other rights you hold in your User Content. You grant Paperless.pet a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, limited license to host, store, reproduce, process, transmit, display, and otherwise use your User Content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, maintain, and provide the Service and the features you choose to use. This license is sublicensable solely to service providers acting on behalf of Paperless.pet to the extent reasonably necessary to provide, operate, secure, or maintain the Service. This includes processing necessary to store and display your records, perform AI-assisted document extraction, provide household access, generate reminders and calendar feeds, provide exports, operate sharing features, and perform backup, security, and technical functions. This license does not authorize Paperless.pet to sell your User Content or use private pet records for advertising. The license generally ends when the applicable User Content is deleted from the Service, subject to temporary backup retention, security and audit records, legal obligations, and copies already provided to other people at your direction as described in our Privacy Policy.
Content You Upload
You are responsible for the User Content you submit. By uploading or entering User Content, you represent that you have the right or authority to possess and upload it, your use of the content through Paperless.pet does not violate another person's rights, the content is not unlawful, and where the content contains personal information about another person, you have an appropriate basis to possess and use that information. Veterinary documents may contain incidental information about veterinarians, clinics, pet owners, or other people. Paperless.pet processes this information as necessary to provide the Service and user-enabled functionality, as described in our Privacy Policy. Paperless.pet does not claim ownership of veterinary records, photographs, or other content merely because you upload them to the Service.
Household Access
Paperless.pet may allow multiple users to participate in a household. Members granted access to the same household may be able to access that household's pets, pet profiles, veterinary records, uploaded documents, reminders, appointments, and other household information. By inviting or granting another person access to a household, you authorize that person to access the information available to household members. You are responsible for deciding whom you trust with household access. Removing someone from a household can prevent future access through that person's account, but it cannot retrieve information they previously viewed, downloaded, copied, exported, photographed, or otherwise retained while authorized.
Share Links and Calendar Subscription URLs
Paperless.pet may allow you to intentionally share information without requiring the recipient to create or sign into an account.
Pet Share Links
A pet share link may allow anyone possessing the URL to access the information made available through that link. You are responsible for deciding who receives a share link and for protecting the URL from unintended disclosure. A recipient may forward a share link to another person. Paperless.pet generally cannot identify every person who accesses an anonymous share link. You can revoke share links through available Service functionality. Revocation prevents future access through the revoked URL but cannot recover information that was previously viewed, downloaded, copied, or retained by a recipient.
Calendar Subscription URLs
Calendar subscription URLs may provide unauthenticated access to information such as reminders and appointments. A calendar subscription URL should be treated like a credential. Anyone who possesses the URL may be able to access the calendar information exposed through it. Third-party calendar applications may download, cache, synchronize, or retain information obtained from a calendar subscription. Revoking a calendar URL prevents future retrieval through that URL but may not remove information already stored by a third-party application or recipient.
Featured Pets and Public Content
Paperless.pet may allow users to voluntarily submit a pet for display on publicly accessible portions of the Service. Participation is optional, and submitted pets may be subject to approval before publication. If you choose to participate, you authorize Paperless.pet to publicly display the approved pet's name and photograph for purposes of the featured-pet function. You retain your rights in the photograph. This limited public-display permission continues until the pet is withdrawn from the featured-pet feature or the feature is discontinued. Removal from publicly displayed portions of the Service may take a reasonable amount of time to propagate through technical systems and caches. Do not submit a photograph to the featured-pet function unless you have the right to authorize its public display.
Acceptable Use
You may use Paperless.pet only for lawful pet-record-management and related purposes. You may not attempt to access another user's or household's private information without authorization, use another person's credentials, share link, or calendar URL without authorization, probe, scan, test, bypass, or attempt to defeat security or access controls, interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure, intentionally overload, abuse, or circumvent document-processing or AI-extraction systems, upload malware, malicious code, or content intended to damage or compromise the Service, use automated systems, scraping tools, bots, or similar methods to access the Service except where expressly authorized, reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive non-public source code except to the extent such restrictions are prohibited by applicable law, use the Service to infringe another person's privacy, intellectual-property, or other legal rights, impersonate another person or misrepresent your authority to access information, use the Service for fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful purposes, or upload content unrelated to the intended pet-record-management functions of the Service in a manner that materially abuses its storage or processing resources. We may take reasonable technical measures to prevent or respond to prohibited activity.
Service Availability and Original Records
Paperless.pet is intended to help organize and make pet records easier to use. It is not intended to replace authoritative records maintained by a veterinarian or another original source. You should retain original veterinary records when they are important to an animal's care, medical history, legal status, insurance, travel, vaccination requirements, or another important purpose. We work to keep Paperless.pet available and reliable, but we do not guarantee that the Service will always be available, access will be uninterrupted or error-free, every notification will be delivered, every calendar synchronization will succeed, every document will be successfully processed, AI extraction will always be accurate, or information stored through the Service will never be lost or corrupted. Maintenance, outages, security events, third-party failures, Internet failures, or other circumstances may temporarily affect availability. You are responsible for maintaining copies of records that you cannot afford to lose.
Third-Party Services
Some Paperless.pet functionality depends on third-party infrastructure and service providers. Other features may interact with services you choose to use, such as email providers, browsers, or calendar applications. Paperless.pet is not responsible for independent third-party services that are outside our control. Your use of a third-party service may also be governed by that provider's own terms and privacy practices. Our use of service providers that process personal information on behalf of Paperless.pet is described in our Privacy Policy.
Paperless.pet Intellectual Property
Paperless.pet and its software, interface, branding, graphics, logos, design, and other materials created for the Service are owned by or licensed to the operator of Paperless.pet and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of Paperless.pet's software, branding, or other proprietary materials to you. Subject to these Terms, you receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable right to access and use the Service for its intended purpose. This section does not affect your rights in your own User Content.
Suspension and Termination
You may stop using Paperless.pet at any time. You may delete information using available application functionality and may request account or data deletion as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to the Service when reasonably necessary because of a material violation of these Terms, attempted unauthorized access, fraud, abuse, or unlawful activity, conduct that threatens the security or operation of the Service, legal or regulatory requirements, or circumstances where continued access would create a material risk to Paperless.pet or its users. Where reasonably practical, we will provide notice before terminating an account. Immediate suspension or termination may occur where necessary to address a security threat, abuse, unlawful conduct, or legal obligation. Termination does not necessarily result in immediate deletion of all information. Data deletion and retention are handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
Discontinuation of the Service
Paperless.pet may change, suspend, or discontinue some or all of the Service. If we permanently discontinue the Service, we will make reasonable efforts, when practical, to provide advance notice and an opportunity for users to export their information. Advance notice may not be possible where discontinuation is caused by security, legal, technical, or other circumstances requiring immediate action.
Disclaimer of Warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Paperless.pet is provided "as is" and "as available." We disclaim warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement, to the extent those warranties may lawfully be disclaimed. Without limiting the foregoing, we do not warrant that information displayed by the Service is complete or error-free, AI extraction is accurate, reminders or notifications will be delivered, the Service will operate without interruption, defects will always be corrected, third-party services will remain available, or stored information can never be lost, corrupted, or accessed without authorization. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Paperless.pet and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to the Service, including damages resulting from inaccurate or incomplete information, missed reminders or appointments, AI-extraction errors, loss or corruption of data, unauthorized access, service interruptions, third-party services, or a user's decision to rely on information contained in the Service. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the total aggregate liability of Paperless.pet and its operator for claims arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid directly to Paperless.pet for the Service during the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or $100. These limitations apply only to the extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, willful injury, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
Changes to the Service
Paperless.pet may add, modify, remove, or discontinue features as the Service develops. The availability or design of a particular feature at one time does not guarantee that the feature will remain available permanently. Where a change materially affects users' stored information, access, or other significant interests, we will provide reasonable notice when practical.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as Paperless.pet changes or as legal or operational requirements evolve. When these Terms are updated, we will revise the Last Updated date above. If we make material changes affecting users' rights or obligations, we will provide reasonable notice through the Service, by email, or through another reasonably conspicuous method. We may require users to affirmatively accept materially revised Terms before continuing to use the Service. If affirmative acceptance is required, continued account access may be conditioned on accepting the updated Terms. If you do not agree to updated Terms, you may stop using Paperless.pet and request deletion of your account as described in our Privacy Policy.
Electronic Communications
By creating or maintaining an account, you agree that Paperless.pet may provide account, security, legal, and service-related notices electronically, including through email or notices displayed within the Service. You are responsible for maintaining a current email address associated with your account. This section does not authorize marketing communications where separate consent is required by law.
Assignment
You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior consent. Paperless.pet may assign or transfer these Terms in connection with a sale, transfer, reorganization, acquisition, or other transfer of the Service or substantially all assets associated with it. Any permitted successor remains subject to these Terms with respect to the rights and obligations transferred to it.
Governing Law and Venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Subject to any rights or venue protections that applicable law does not permit you to waive, any legal action arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service must be brought in the applicable state or federal courts located in the California county in which Paperless.pet is operated. Nothing in these Terms deprives you of protections that applicable law does not permit you to waive.
Survival
Termination of your account or these Terms does not affect provisions that, by their nature or express terms, are intended to continue after termination. Without limitation, Sections concerning User Content to the extent necessary to complete deletion and retention processes, intellectual property, disclaimers of warranties, limitations of liability, assignment, governing law and venue, and provisions necessary to interpret or enforce these Terms survive termination as applicable.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted by law, and the remaining provisions will remain in effect.
No Waiver
If Paperless.pet does not enforce a provision of these Terms in a particular instance, that does not waive the right to enforce that provision later.
Entire Agreement
These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the agreement and related privacy disclosures governing your use of Paperless.pet, except where additional terms are expressly presented for a particular feature or transaction. If additional terms apply to a particular feature or transaction, those additional terms will control with respect to that feature or transaction to the extent of a direct conflict.
